Our Martian Alien - Marclops

by Grade 1 A

Drawing by Rachel

We created Marclops using our scientific knowledge about what underwater creatures would need to survive.

1. Marclops has one huge eye in the center of its face, with an enormous pupil to help it see in the dark of the underground sea.

2. There are 2 gills on either side of the eye for breathing, opening like an owl's ears.

3. The mouth is much like a vampire's teeth, because Marclops is an omnivore - eating both plant and animal life for survival.

4. The funnel shape at the top of the head is for sonar - like a bat's - to help locate food.

5. The hanging sphere is for a light source, like the angle fish in Finding Nemo.

6. Marclops has webbed hands, and a torso like a merperson to help swim.

7. There are 8 tentacles on the sides of the body that are for grasping prey and injecting paralyzing substances into prey.

8. Of course, the scales covering its body are red, from the iron oxide on the planet.
